Endre Farkas:" THE WAY WE PAINT "

Publisher: Kaméleon Mix Ltd, Szolnok, 2005
Editors: F. Sándor Lovász, Lilla Lovász and Csaba Bozsó
ISBN: 963 218 859 4
This book is a stopgap publication, the task of which a publisher undertakes only if being in possession of a wide scope of and special experience in the given field of profession. Both the author and the publisher are in possession of these. Throughout its approximately 240 pages the book describes the major phases and stages of the car refinishing process and provides a view into the backstage secrets of this profession. The appendix includes the technical data sheets of the materials used in car refinishing, which makes this publication a complete and perfect manual for the experts practically working in this field.
Discovering its aesthetics the present publication can also boast to present the art of car refinishing. "L´arte della riparazione" – says the foreign expert in his greeting lines on page 5 of the book.
Other virtues of the book, apart from the above mentioned, are its directness and modesty. The author simply states, ’This is the way we do it’. Once you get into the book nowhere will you find sentences declaring this is how you should do it, this is the way you must follow, or there is no other way. The author says there may be other ways; you may use materials other than the ones we use (if they are of the same quality as ours) – says the managing director of the publisher. The book does not intend to „order about” anybody. It only – or to be more precise – ’just’ describes our processes, and does it in a visually attractive way, using pictures and short, straightforward explanations; the book edited in a way that makes it an easy-to-use guide and manual, which you can open any time when you feel necessary.
Yes, the PHOTOS!
The present publication is (also) a ’picture book’! With the help of more than 410 photos it describes the refinishing processes and makes the methods and the ’technological expertise and know-how’ of the author clear and straightforward. All these make it possible to provide the reader with sources of experience of decades that would take an entire professional career to acquire. This is what makes the present publication a coursebook as well. And this is the ’treasure’ (as the top manager of the LECHLER company says in his greeting lines) which cannot be held back, which is to be shared with others. This specialised expertise that the author and the editors included in the book can be seen in the pictures and read in the accompanying texts.
We also owe great thanks to the preparatory and printing work. The colours of the photos, the quality of the paper chosen and the printing work greatly contributed to making this book an enjoyable and visually attractive manual. This is how the team of Kaméleon Mix Ltd achieved that the reader cannot put the book down until he has finished reading it, especially if you are of the same profession. But we also hope that the book has managed to achieve the non-declared task to make others (e.g. customers of bodyshops all over the country) open the book and realise how much expertise is necessary to produce something which is not even visible, as it cannot be distinguished from the original.
